Mobile apps Australian businesses actually ship, not ones that stall in review

Built for both stores with the submission requirements handled up front, offline behaviour designed rather than assumed, and the source in your repository from the first commit.

Every engagement includes

 • Both stores from one codebase
 • Store accounts in your name
 • Offline behaviour designed
 • Crash reporting configured
 • Two-week build increments
Why this goes wrong

What we usually find, and what we do instead

Mobile App Development by Webcotec is planned, designed and developed around your business workflow. We focus on performance, security, usability, SEO structure and long-term scalability so your digital system is easy to manage and ready to grow.

What we usually find

 • Rejected by App Review — for a missing privacy label, a sign-in requirement or a purchase flow that bypasses the store.
 • A website in an app shell — which reviewers reject and users delete, because it does nothing the browser did not.
 • Falls over outside the city — no offline state, so it spins forever on a regional 4G connection.
 • Developer accounts in someone else’s name — and the app is unreachable the day that relationship ends.
 • No crash reporting — so the first you hear of a broken release is a one-star review.

What we do instead

 • Read the store rules first — privacy labels, data disclosures and purchase rules settled during scoping, not at submission.
 • Build what only an app can do — camera, notifications, offline, location. If none apply, we will say a web app is cheaper.
 • Design the offline state — queue writes, cache reads, and tell the user honestly what is stale.
 • Register the accounts to you — Apple and Google developer accounts in your business name from day one.
 • Instrument before launch — crash reporting and release tracking live before the first public build.
What's included

What we actually work on

Not a checklist of 200 "optimisations". These are the things that move the result.

Cross-platform build

One codebase in React Native or Flutter for both stores, with native modules where a feature genuinely needs them. Two native builds cost roughly double for most business apps.

Offline and sync

Local storage, queued writes and conflict handling, so the app works on a patchy connection and reconciles when it returns. Designed up front, because retrofitting it is a rewrite.

Push notifications

Segmented, permission-handled and rate-limited, with deep links into the right screen. Configured so you can send without a developer.

Authentication and security

Biometric unlock, secure token storage, certificate pinning where the data justifies it, and session handling that survives a backgrounded app.

Payments and subscriptions

In-app purchase and subscription flows that meet store rules, or Stripe where the rules allow it. Getting this wrong is the most common rejection we see.

Release and crash monitoring

Staged rollout, crash reporting and release tracking from the first build, so a bad release is caught before it reaches everyone.

How we work

A sequence, not a black box

You see the plan before we touch anything, and you approve what gets done.

01

Scope

What the app must do that a website cannot, which store rules apply, and what the offline behaviour needs to be.

02

Design

Screens designed for both platforms, reviewed on real devices rather than in a desktop browser.

03

Build

Two-week increments delivered to TestFlight and Play internal testing, so you use each version on your own phone.

04

Submit

Store listings, screenshots, privacy labels and review notes prepared together, then submitted and tracked through review.

05

Support

Staged rollout, crash monitoring and a defined support arrangement for the releases that follow.

FAQ

Questions Australian businesses ask about mobile apps

How much does a mobile app cost in Australia?

A focused app with a handful of screens and one backend integration generally starts in the mid five figures. Anything with offline sync, payments or a custom backend runs into six. The variables are screen count, offline behaviour and how much backend has to be built alongside it.

Should we build native or cross-platform?

Cross-platform for most business apps: one codebase, both stores, roughly half the cost. Native earns its price when you need heavy graphics, deep hardware access or platform features on release day.

Do we need an app at all?

Often not. If the app would do what your website already does, a progressive web app costs far less and skips store review entirely. We will tell you when that is the better answer.

How long does store review take?

Apple is usually one to three days now, Google often faster. Rejections are what cost time, which is why we settle privacy labels, data disclosures and purchase rules during scoping rather than at submission.

Who owns the developer accounts?

You do. Apple and Google developer accounts are registered to your business, and we are added as developers. We have untangled enough of the reverse to insist on it.

What about updates after launch?

Both platforms change requirements regularly and an unmaintained app eventually stops being accepted. A maintenance arrangement covers SDK updates, OS compatibility and store policy changes.

Can it work offline?

Yes, if it is designed for it from the start. We specify which data is cached, which writes are queued and how conflicts resolve, because bolting this on later is effectively a rebuild.

Do you build the backend too?

Yes, or we integrate with what you have. If the app needs an API that does not exist, that is scoped and quoted as part of the build rather than discovered halfway through.
